August 27 - Cross Country Day

Canada's
Kelli McMullen Temple and Paris maintained their lead at the Bowmore Blair
Castle CCI***, on Saturday. In spite of adding 12.4 time faults to her leading
Dressage score of 44.1, Kelli managed to stay 6.l1 faults ahead of her nearest
pursuer Louise Skelton, who ran one of only two double clears over the
hilly course for a final score of 62.6. (The second double clear belonged to Christine
Hardinge, who rode Hiawatha II to an 8th place finish on her
Dressage
score of 71.7.) (Kelli and Paris are pictured at the right jumping out of the
water at the Maui Jim Wayne Horse Trials, in July.)
Sarah
Cutteridge maintained third position riding Cottage Craft Spirals. This pair added
14.8 time faults for a two day score of 63.7.
Canada's
second competitor Mike Winter dropped from fifth after Dressage to twelfth,
having incurred 27.6 time faults for a score of 78.5.
Kelli
and Mike are competing in Scotland as part of a Canadian Elite Riders program
and are being helped by the 2000 Individual Gold Medalist David O'Connor.
There
were 31 finishers, 5 eliminations and 13 retirements over the testing course.
