These
are the Saturday Pictures for the Rolex Kentucky CCI**** Preview:
The
above photo is of the steps up out of The Hollow. Once again the piles of mulch
are for floral decorations to be added.
The
above plaque is in memory of Pete Costello, who was the Course Builder at Rolex
Kentucky. Pete's brother Mick continues on in the Costello brothers' tradition
as the Course Builder at Rolex today. This plaque is at The Hollow. Be sure to
stop during a course walk to pay homage to the memory of a great guy and an innovative
course builder.
The
above picture is the former First Water from the take off side. There is
an alternative off to the left which is not shown. Editor's
Note: eventingetc was wrong in assuming
the Kim had been excused from competing Winsome Adante at Rolex Kentucky. Kim
is quoted in The Chronicle of The Horse (April 21, 2006 issue) as having
said: "
I don't have a bye (for team selection) - it's at my own risk. I don't want to
risk running and injuring him. I'm confident in the way he's gone this spring,
and I think it's best for him. I think his record speaks for itself, but I will
be wondering until they name the team. I'd love to take him because he's awesome.
But I can't just take him because I'd like to; I have to do what's best for him." (For
the record Dan placed second in an Advanced Section at Pine Top (behind Kim and
Royal Venture); he won Advanced Test "C" at Poplar Place while finishing
on his Dressage score; and at The Fork CCI***-W, Dan finished second, on his Dressage
score, .9 of a fault out of first place.) |
