About Us
Land Rover Burghley CCOI****

Ted and I were fortunate enough to be able to watch almost the entire Cross Country on the Internet. The picture was EXCELLENT and the commentary likewise!

Becky Holder's run Cross Country was super, though a bit slower than we are used to seeing her go in this country. (Becky and Courageous Comet are pictured at the left jumping into The Head of the Lake at Rolex Kentucky last April.)

Bonnie and Jenga were somewhat slower than her usual, though again a good run over the country.

Andrew Hoy was quoted as having said, prior to his Cross Country runs, regarding the Rolex Grand Slam, " If I don't win it, I won't have lost anything because I never had anything."

One of the British commentators (possibly Alice Plunkett) on the Internet coverage said regarding the difference between Badminton and Burghley, "Hugh Thomas (the Director and Course Designer at Badminton) has had a strangle hold on Badminton for so many years - - - the "WOW Factor" has gone out of Badminton." She continued that Burghley hires a professional Course Designer, in this case Captain Mark Phillips.

Sally Futh sends the following news from Burghley:

"Andrew Hoy and Moonfleet complete their perfect round to remain in the lead on their Dressage score. Andrew again showed the clock in his head as he finished one second under (with Moonfleet ), having finished ON the time with Mr. Pracatan.(Andrew and Moonfleet are pictured at the right jumping the Land Rover Finale in front of Burghley House.)

"Lucinda Fredericks was reinstated in second place with 1.6 time, (She had initially been stopped by the crowd because of a fall in front of her, rather than by a Stopping Steward or a Fence Judge.) (She had been charged with 6.4 time faults, appealed, and got the faults lowered to 1.6.) after the fiasco with NOT stopping her was corrected thanks to technology.

"Andrew was very humble (and happy of course,) (saying), "Either it is meant to be or not,"(in reference to the possibility of his winning the Rolex Challenge.)"
