The Festival of British Eventing
at Gatcombe Park
August 4 - 6, 2006

Friday, August 4, 2006 - The First Day of Dressage

Several members of Squads named for the World Equestrian Games are using The Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park as a final run before Aachen. Gatcombe is the estate of HRH Anne The Princess Royal. Among those of interest who completed their Dressage on Friday were:

Great Britain's Zara Phillips and Toytown who led Section 1 after Dressage. Zara is, of course the daughter of Captain Mark Phillips, the Team Coach for the USA and his former wife, Anne The Princess Royal.

Heelan Tompkins and Glengarrick, equal fourth in Advanced Section 1, will represent New Zealand. Glengarrick is now an evergreen 19 years old. He and Heelan competed at the Rolex Kentucky CCI****, in 1999, and were the highest placed Kiwis at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.

Daisy Dick and Spring Along, seventh in Section 1, are named to the British Squad for the WEG.

Cindy Rawson, ninth in Section 1, is an American ex-patriot who resides in England. Ashdale David's Way belongs in part to Bob and Sally Futh.

Amy Tryon, an impressive equal second in Section 2, has just aquired the ride on Le Samurai and has him in England with her as they prep for a fall CCI.

Caroline Powell and Lenamore are named to the New Zealand Squad for Aachen. (Caroline and Lenamore are pictured at the right at the Vickarage Vee at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton CCI**** where they finished 36th.)

Karen O'Connor with Upstage and Steve Bradly riding Brandenburgs Joshua are both named to the USA's Squad for the WEG. They finished 7th and 13th respectively in Section 2.

Bonnie Mossetr and Close The Deal, 21st in Section 2, are heading for the Blenheim CCI***.

Sara Mittleider, also a candidate for the Blenheim CCI***, forgot the test as did her fellow American Aimee Mobray.
