Saturday, May 5 - Cross Country Day

Lucinda Fredericks, who rides for Australia, and is the wife of the Rolex Kentucky winner Clayton Fredericks, still leads on a score of 35.6.

Kim Severson who ran double clear Cross Country with Winsome Adante is in second place, a mere .2 of a fault behind the leaders. (Kim and Winsome Adante are pictured at the right jumping into The Lake. Photo courtesy of Robert Futh.)

Hinrich Romeike, for Germany, and Marius Voight-Logistik are in third place, 4 faults behind the leaders.

The highest placed Brit is Sarah Cohen, formerly Cutteridge, in seventh place with Hide and Seek II on a score of 45.4.

In the top ten there are three Germans, three Aussies, two New Zealanders, a Brit, and an American.

There were eighteen double clears Cross Country, or 40%, from forty-three finishers, a very high number for Badminton. Because the ground was hard due to lack of rain, it was fast.

Twenty-two competitors were withdrawn after Dressage, this from seventy-seven competitors who completed Dressage. 28% were non-starters on Cross Country.
