The My Lady's Manor Steeplechase Races

April 12th, 2008
Run for the Benefit of the Ladew Topiary Gardens

The Ninety-Eight Running

Irvin S. Naylor's Hot Springs was late to the paddock and he was late at the finish of the race having been beaten by Brigadoon Stable's Erin Go Bragh; nonetheless, after a Stewards' Inquiry, he was declared the winner of the My Lady's Manor Steeplechase due to a foul by Erin Go Bragh at the last fence.

(Hot Springs being hurried to the paddock before the My Lady's Manor Steeplechase.)

The order of finish was reversed by the stewards. Hot Springs became the winner, while Erin Go Bragh was placed second. Naylor, the owner of Hot Springs, was quoted in the Baltimore Sun as never recalling having won a timber race by disqualification.

(J. Alfred Prufrock, out of picture to the left, leads Erin Go Bragh (7 - Paddy Young)), Royal's Quest (4 - Billy Meister), Bubble Economy (5 - H. Brooks Durkee), and Hot Springs (2 - Darren Nagle), the eventual winner, at the fifth from home.)

The second feature, the Eighty Fourth Running of the John Rush Streett Memorial Steeplechase, for maidens over timber, was won by Augustin Stables' Flying Contraption an Irish bred ridden by H. Brooks Durkee.
