The
management team at The Fork certainly had it right today when they decided to
Show Jump on Saturday and run Cross Country on Sunday. It rained on and off all
morning and rained the hardest of the day during the CIC***-W, in early afternoon. There
was one problem consistent in both the CIC***-W and in the CIC***.
Competitors had to turn right after the last fence in order to pass through the
finish markers and stop the timer. Of those who turned left it was still possible
to go through the finish markers; however, it was also possible to exit the ring
without going through the finish markers. One competitor picked up 30 time faults
when she reached the exit gate before being yelled at to go throught the finish
markers. She was fortunate not to have been eliminated for unauthorized assistance! Mara
Dean and High Patriot came from second place after Dressage to take over the lead
when Allison Springer, the overnight leader picked up 4 jumping faults and 6 time
faults. (Mara and High Patriot are pictured at the right above.) CIC***-W
